Our implementation team has spent time in Manhattan recently – no, not that one, the one in Kansas! That’s the home of the manufacturing facility of Kretschmer Wheat Germ, where they went live with their JustFoodERP system – a process that went well and in a tight period of time.
The plant only had three months to go live with JustFoodERP since they had to replace the SAP R/3 system put in place by the former owners, The Quaker Oats Company (a Pepsico company). Boston, MA-based Sun Country Foods bought the Kretschmer brand and its manufacturing facility in late 2011.
Mike Morin, CFO, Sun Country Foods. “JustFoodERP’s stellar implementation team made it happen, and took as much stress as possible out of such a tight timeline.” This is the third time that the JustFoodERP is working with private equity firm, Brynwood, which owns Sun Country Foods.
For years, the Kansas facility was run only as a manufacturing plant with back office operations – such as sales, shipping, and vendors – supported by the corporate office,” says Morin. “The acquisition of the Kretschmer plant required the design of new processes, training operators in activities they had never performed. Sun Country is already happy with the optimization of their business processes at the Manhattan, KS facility.
Incidentally, employees love working at the Kretschmer plant so much they tweet @ManhattanWGerm. Their Twitter profile reads, “We are a group of wheat germ manufacturing employees! The product is amazing and a little secret we would like to share with everyone!!”
Have you ever tried Kretschmer wheat germ, and what do you put it on? Leave your comments here.
